The Village of Brockport’s official website highlights the Erie Canal, Main Street shops and SUNY Brockport. New York State lists the village within the Town of Sweden. Because the village includes college-related housing and small businesses, it matters who controls the lock: campus housing locks are managed by the college, and rental locks usually involve a landlord.
Situations we hear about
Locked out of campus housing
Contact the college’s own housing or campus safety office for residence hall locks. A private locksmith is for off-campus properties you are authorized to access.
Off-campus rental key lost
Tell your landlord. If a key with your address is missing, ask whether rekeying is possible and who will approve it.
Main Street shop lock acting up
If a shop door will not lock at closing, describe the symptom and whether you can secure the space another way for now.
When you call from Brockport, mention
- Whether the property is owned, rented or business
- Nearest street in the village
